This past week of May 16, the contractor continued demolition which will continue over the coming weeks; this includes the removal of the asphalt wearing surface and partial demolition of the parapet.
The Contractor also performed riprap slope protection, and soil stabilization and temporary seeding of stockpiled soils (see photo below).
During the week of May 23, bridge demolition will continue.
Navigation closure alert: The navigation channel will be closed Tuesday May 23rd through Friday May 27th as demolition of the concrete bridge deck over the channel occurs.
The sidewalk over the Eastbound bridge has been closed for the demolition of the bridge and will not reopen until Spring of 2023.
