Work completed the week of August 2, 2021 was as follows:

  • Completed assembly of the 300-ton crane
  • Worked on abutment backwalls/cheekwalls
  • Set up access for the delivery/storage of steel girders

The week of August 9, 2021 we will begin erecting the structural steel (see first photo below).  Beginning Tuesday, August 10, three girders per day will be delivered, followed by their erection. The bridge is six girders wide and it takes seven girder sections (six bolted splices) to span the length of the bridge. In total, 42 girders will be erected over the coming weeks.

Taken from the Abutment 2 vicinity, the second photo below shows, from from foreground to background (east to west), Pier 3, Pier 2, Pier 1, and Abutment 1, upon which the steel will be erected. The 300-ton crane is pictured as well.
