This past week of August 22, 2022, we accomplished the following work:
- Completed removal of the existing concrete barrier wall
- Completed concrete placement for Pier 3 pier cap
- Poured concrete at Abutment 2 footing, pour 2 of 2
- Completed temporary bents 2 and 3 for future steel erection
- Continued to form cheek walls at Abutments 1 and 2
- Continued to sound, chip and replace deteriorated-unsound concrete
- Continued earthwork at Abutment 1
- Continued to monitor and control dust and other environmental best management practices (BMPs)
During the week of August 29, 2022, we will:
- Form and pour the Abutment 2 stem wall
- Continue Abutment 2 modifications
- Strip formwork at Pier 2
- Continue to form Abutment 1 finger joint drainage trough
- Begin to form Abutment 2 finger joint drainage trough
- Continue to drill and install dowel reinforcing at Abutment 2
- Continue take delivery of structural steel members and crossframes
- Install temporary bolstiers
- Prepare to install bearings
- Continue installation of temporary steel bent supports in preparation of steel erection activities in September, presently anticipated to begin September 6th
Channel Update:
The Contractor has constructed a temporary bent for future steel erection in Span 2, which is over the navigation channel. The bent will be in place until late September. It will be well-lit and delineated so boaters can see it well in advance. A 75’ channel will be maintained between the bent and Pier 2.
